Established in 2022, New Canon Theatre Company’s mission is to stage daring re-imaginings of the classical and contemporary canons while simultaneously producing new works by established and emerging playwrights.
Our goals, ever evolving and growing are as follows:
To foster and produce bold and meaningful theatrical works created by and featuring talented, inspiring, and diverse professional and community artists from all backgrounds.
To embrace the educational power of the theatre through classes and performance. It is our belief that an equitable arts education is fundamental to the growth of society, and therefore should be a cornerstone of our responsibilities as an arts organization.
To ensure theatre is accessible to all, regardless of financial means. Our ticketing and audience engagement practices will ensure that nobody will be denied the transformative power of live theatre.
To reject the notion of “the starving artist” by implementing equitable wage practices for both union and non-union professionals as we grow our company.
